Faculty of Physiotherapy conducted a Cadaveric Workshop on Safety Aspects of Dry Needling on 12^th October 2018. Mr. P. Rajkannan, Founder President – Dry Needling Association & Director – APTER Institute, India was the resource faculty.

Dept. of Psychiatric Nursing celebrated World Mental Health Day with the theme, ‘Young People and Mental Health in a Changing World’ on 11th October 2018. 129 patients and their family members benefited.

Depts. of Psychiatry and Occupational Therapy observed World Mental Health Day on 10^th October 2018 with the theme, ‘Young People and Mental Health in a Changing World’. Dr. P. P. Kannan, Assoc. Prof., Dept. of Psychiatry, Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai was the resource person. 200 participants benefited.

Dept. of Clinical Psychology

Dept. of Clinical Psychology observed World Mental Health Day with the theme, ‘Young People and Mental Health in a Changing World’ on 10th October 2018 by conducting a guest lecture on the theme by Dr. K. Raman, Assoc. Prof., Dept. of Psychiatry, Saveetha Medical College. 58 participants attended.

Dept. of Vascular Surgery and Quality & Patient Safety team

Dept. of Vascular Surgery and Quality & Patient Safety team observed DVT Awareness Week from 9th to 13th October 2018 with the theme, ‘Marching towards Venous Thromboembolism Free India’.

Dept. of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Dept. of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery conducted a Workshop on Surgical Access to the Craniofacial Region for Ablative Surgery as part of the 43rd National Conference of the AOMSI and the 1st Indo-Japan Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Meet on 9th October 2018. Dr. M. Ethunandan, Maxillofacial Consultant, Southampton University & Visiting Faculty, Faculty of Dental Sciences was the resource person. 50 delegates participated.

Dept. of SLHS

Dept. of SLHS celebrated the 16th Anniversary of the Alumni Association of SLHS Chapter with the theme, Tele-practice in Speech Pathology & Audiology – Clinician’s Perspectives on 5th October 2018. Ms. Pratiksha Gupta, Founder & CEO, One Special Place, Bengaluru was the resource faculty. Demonstration and hands-on training were provided by KUDUwave and Medtronics India Pvt. Ltd. 100 alumni, students and faculty members participated.

Dept. of Environmental Health Engineering

Dept. of Environmental Health Engineering in collaboration with the Safety Engineers Association (India), Chennai organized a workshop on Technical Aspects of Noise & its Health Effects on 22nd September 2018. Mr. K. Kaliannan, Director, Directorate of Industrial Safety & Health, Govt. of Tamilnadu was the chief guest. 80 delegates attended.

Medical Education Unit

The MCI recognized nodal center for Faculty Development Program conducted the 1st Contact Session of the 7th Advance Course in Medical Education from 5th to 9th September 2018 and the 2nd Contact Session of the 6th Advance Course in Medical Education from 9th to 11th September 2018. 25 & 22 participants attended respectively.

Dept. of Pediatrics & Neonatology

Dept. of Pediatrics & Neonatology conducted the 10th Pediatrics & Neonatal Ventilation Workshop from 30th August to 1st September 2018. 82 delegates attended.

Sports

Our university students won the following trophies in CHEMSPORTS ’18 Inter-Medical Collegiate Tournament conducted from 11th to 14th October 2018 at Chengalpattu Medical College, Chengalpattu. Our team won the Overall Championship.

Our university students won the following trophies in FUSION 2K18 Inter-Medical Collegiate Tournament conducted from 9th to 11th October 2018 at Chettinad Medical College, Chennai. Our team won the Overall Championship – Runners.
