Dept. of Anatomy

Dept. of Anatomy conducted the 8th Conference of the Society of the Clinical Anatomists (International) from 8th to 9th February 2019. Dr. Ian Johnson, Director, Anatomy & Biomedical Sciences, Macquarie University, Sydney, Dr. V. Balasubramaniam, Prof. & HOD, Anatomy, St. Johns Medical college and Surg Capt. Rochan Pant, Prof. & HOD, Radiology & Interventional Radiology, Sir HN Reliance Hospital, Mumbai were the guest speakers. 270 delegates from all over India attended.

A preconference workshop on 7th Feb. on the topic, ‘Modern Embalming Techniques’ was conducted by embalming technicians from Adelaide University and Tokyo through hands on demonstration.

Central Research Facility, Faculty of Nursing & Dept. of Physiology

Central Research Facility, Faculty of Nursing & Dept. of Physiology jointly organized the formal launch of INDO-UK Course on ‘ABC of Travel Health e-Course’ and a CME on 21st January 2019. Dr. Eric Walker, Honorary Associate Clinical Professor, Travel Medicine & Global Health, University of Glasgow and Dr. Kali Perrow, Associate Specialist in Infectious Diseases and Medical Lead, Travel and International Health Team, Health Protection Scotland, Glasgow were the resource persons. 65 students benefited.

Dept. of Forensic Medicine

Dept. of Forensic Medicine conducted a debate about gender issues on the topic, Is Equality Harassed? on 20th February 2019. Eminent faculty speakers and students participated in the debate. Around 250 staff and students attended.

Faculty of Pharmacy in collaboration with the Dept. of EHE conducted a National Seminar on Advanced Concepts of Toxicokinetics in Application to Monitoring & Evaluation of Therapeutic Drugs with the theme, ‘Toxicokinetics and Toxicity Estimation Software’ on 29th January 2019. The chief guest was Dr. Kannan Krishnan, Chief Scientific Officer, Robert-Sauvé Occupational Health & Safety Research Institute, Québec Province of Canada. Dr. Kannan Krishnan, Prof. S. Shankar, Head, Dept. of EHE, SRIHER (DU) and Dr. J. Srikanth, Asst. Prof., Dept. of Pharmacology, Faculty of Pharmacy, SRIHER (DU) were the resource persons. 300 delegates attended.

Dept.of Obstetrics & Gynecology

Dept. of Obstetrics & Gynecology conducted OG QUEST 2019, the 22nd Revision Course for PGs from 20th to 24th January 2019. Dr. Lakshmi Seshadri, former HOD, Dept. of OBGYN, CMC, Vellore was the Chief Guest. 300 PGs from across the country attended.

Dept. of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine conducted the annual Anesthesia CME program Ramachandra Anesthesia Continuing Education (RACE) from 25th to 27th January 2019. 950 delegates from all over the country attended. Events included:

Medical Education Unit

Medical Education Unit, a MCI recognized Nodal Centre conducted a Revised Basic Course Workshop (RBCW) followed by a Sensitization Program on Attitude, Ethics and Communication (AET-COM) competencies on Medical Education Technologies from 2nd to 5thJanuary 2019. 30 and 25 faculty members from various colleges under our Regional Centre attended respectively.

Sports

Mr. Vignesh T. C., I yr., B. Sc. Bio-informatics secured the 1st place in the 2nd State Level Indoor Archery Championship 2019 on 20thJanuary 2019 at Bharathi Vidhya Bhavan Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Erode District.
Our university students won the overall championship trophy in the 2nd National Level Inter Physiotherapy Collegiate Sports Fest 2019 organized by SRM College of Physiotherapy, SRM Institute of Science and Technology from 23rd to 25thJanuary 2019.

Our university students won the overall trophy in the 21st Tamil Nadu State Level Intercollegiate Swimming Competition held on 19thJanuary 2019 at VHNSN College, Virudhunagar.
